How Do I Request to Bid For An Auction?

You must first have a registered account in order to place a "Request to Bid". Refer back to Question 2 - How do I register?

After registering an online bidder account, click on the log in button and enter your registered email and password. Once logged in, a "Request to Bid" button will be listed with every upcoming auction on the online auctions page. Find the auction that you would like to bid participate in and click on the "Request to Bid" button. After you have submitted your bid request, a screen will notify you of your pending bid request. The screen will say "Bid Request Pending" and also present the auction terms and conditions for that sale.

Your bid request has been sent to the auction company for review. In the meantime, your approval status will be displayed in the sale listing of the auction for which you have submitted a bid request. When you log in, you may encounter three different statuses for your bid request:

  1. An "Approval Pending" status means that your request to bid is still being processed by the Auction Company. Make sure to submit your USD $10,000.00 deposit in order to be approved to bid.
  2. An "Approved to Bid" status means that your request to bid has been approved. Once the auction opens on the start date and time, you will be able to place bids.
  3. An "Approval Declined" status means that your request to bid has been declined by the Auction Company. You will not be able to bid on that particular sale. If you feel that you have been declined in error, please contact the Auction Company.

You will also receive an email notification to let you know when you have either been approved or declined to bid at a requested sale. Please note that wire transfers will need to be sent prior to the auction so that the bank will be able to process your request. The earlier a bid request is submitted, the more time Alex Lyon & Son has to review your request and approve you before the auction.
